Vela Digital

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 8 May 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) that the Vela Digital website uses, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to remember information between visits. “Local storage” is a similar browser-side mechanism we sometimes use instead of cookies. UK GDPR and PECR (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) treat both alike for consent purposes.

The cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the Site to work and do not need your consent.

  • Cookie-consent preference— remembers whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies. Stored in your browser's local storage; expires when you clear your browser data. Set by us.
  • Chatbot session— a temporary identifier that ties messages in a single chatbot conversation together. Stored in your browser memory and cleared when you close the tab. Set by us.
  • Authentication session— signs you in to your account once you've verified your email. Stored as an HTTP-only cookie. Set by us.
  • Returning-visitor identifier— two entries (vela-contact-id and vela-contact-email) stored in your browser's local storage so the chatbot can recognise you when you come back and pick up where you left off. Cleared when you clear site data. Set by us.

Analytics (consent-required)

These help us understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. They are off by default and only set if you accept non-essential cookies in our consent banner.

  • Vercel Analytics(planned) — aggregated, privacy-friendly traffic analytics. Set by Vercel on our behalf.

Third-party cookies

When you start a Stripe Checkout session or open the Stripe Customer Portal, you're redirected off our site to Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies subject to Stripe's privacy policy. We do not embed third-party content that sets non-essential cookies on the public marketing site without consent.

Managing your choices

  • Our consent banner appears on your first visit. You can reject non-essential cookies entirely, or accept them. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data in your browser, which will trigger the banner again.
  • Your browser lets you block or delete cookies. See aboutcookies.org for guidance.

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site from working — for example, you won't be able to stay signed in.

Updates

We update this policy when we add or remove cookies. The current version is always at this URL with the “Last updated” date above.
